Neons and Chevrons quilt top

I just love neons! I couldn't resist the new Riley Blake designs neon fabrics! As soon as they were in stock at my neighborhood quilt shop, Sew Modern, I headed on over to snatch them up in all of the colors! I have many projects in mind for these fun projects.

For this quilt top, I cut squares in equal sizes in all of the neons and in a black and white chevron, also by Riley Blake designs.

I then pieced together squares, with each made of three small squares in one neon color and one square in the chevron print.  Next I made 8 even larger multi-colored squares each out of four of the pieced squares.  I made four vertical rectangles each with two of the pieced squares. Shown above are some of the squares as I laid them out for planning purposes to make sure that the color order had a random look.

For the final quilt top, I made four rows. Each row has two of the four-square pieces and one of the two-square rectangles, with white squares from a Kona solids charm pack used to make the smashing in between each piece in the row. Between each row, I used white strips from a Kona jelly roll as the smashing.
